PATTERN 002 CD/DVD "lasercut cardboard packaging with full colored innersleeve"
End of Summer captures Johann Johannsson's journey to the Antarctic Peninsula to discover the calm scenery of a landscape changing seasons, barely influenced or even noticed by humanity. The super 8 film is a comforting study of a peaceful setting in one of the most crucial and endangered areas of our planet.
Accompanied by rich and detailed field recordings of the surrounding this footage makes a perfect foundation for Johann's musical compositions, performed together with fellow musicians and friends Hildur Gudnadottir and Robert A. A. Lowe. The varying use of cello, voice, synthesizer and electronics creates a listening experience that reflects both the vast beauty of the quiet scenery and the necessary cautiousness of its inhabitants. As if gliding through the steep ice, its rough edges and the harmonious water movements, organic arrangements are patiently devolving into voice and electronic based ambience that adds warmth to the icy, artefact laden environment.
The soundtrack to End of Summer is an emotional, enduring listen and a compelling experience. Forming a soundscape as broad as the view it was inspired by yet equally heartwarming, devotion to the music will slow down time and provide a moment of harmony within times of change.
LP edition features the soundtrack as well as the film's sound design on the B-Side, exclusively on vinyl; DVD + CD package features the film and accompanying soundtrack.

Released: December 04, 2015

"This recording has been taken on June 30th 2015, in Bratislava in a beautiful, somehow magical hall, the National Radio Slovak Hall. What I like about this concert is that it perfectly represents my music: what I have been doing, the piano solo, the strings and all my beloved melancholy i try to put in notes. But it also gives a glimpse on what i am exploring these days: live electronics, sequencing old synths, drum machines, all together with my piano. This record is a "bridge" somehow, between what I have been doing in the past and the territories I am exploring right now. I hope you will enjoy it." - Fabrizio Paterlini

Hildegunn Øiseth ‎– Time Is Coming

Released: November 27, 2015
Label: Losen Records

Hildegunn Øiseth: trumpet, flugelhorn and goat horn
Espen Berg: piano
Mats Eilertsen: bass
Per Odvar Johansen: drums

Impeccably recorded, with delicacy and with depth, this album has added five years to my life. As Hildegunn breathes life into her trumpet and into her bukkehorn (goat’s horn), I listen and I learn to breathe properly, to relax.
Music such as this, sparse, roomy, largely minimalistic, can only be played to perfection by world-class musicians equipped with massive technical dexterity and seemingly limitless creativity. Don’t get me wrong, the album also contains build up and climax. Just listen to the intense interplay between Hildegunn (trumpet with Harmon mute) and Espen, on Savolainen.

Ezio Bosso - The 12th Room

Released: October 30, 2015.
Label: INCIPIT Records

Recorder concertos by Antonio Vivaldi and contemporary Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa

The blank spaces on the paper have their own tension, known in Japanese as ma. That tension can be felt in music, between two sounds. Here Hosokawa sees a major difference between European and eastern music...
The contrast with the music of Antonio Vivaldi could hardly be greater. The chasm in time, approach and aesthetics is so deep that it is perhaps futile to look for deeper relationships. Where Hosokawa pursues an expression of an extra-musical breath, Vivaldi surprises us time and again by playing with the form of the Baroque concerto – and then in more than five hundred compositions!

Plaistow – Titan

Released: October 06, 2015
Label: Dyfl

The organic depth of their forthcoming album Titan (to be released October 6th 2015 on Plaistow Music) is a bone chilling experience performed solely on drums, acoustic bass and a grand piano. Combining elements of minimalism, repetitive patterns, odd-time signatures and noise, Plaistow builds from the strong fundaments from previous works like The Crow, Lacrimosa and Citadelle. This group of amazing musicians is an organism of it’s own. No mathematics, no complicated array of notes. It’s not jazz, it’s not conceptual. The music on Titan is deeply rooted in groove - aggressive by times. Like on hardly any other contemporary group, Plaistow can build tension and suspense in their compositions so subtle, singular notes and small time variations come explosively and odd harmonies are filled with emotion. Titan was created in the process sessions for the period of six months. Pianist Johann Bourquenez building the skeleton of the tracks through beatboxes, sequencers and recordings on piano, carefully inviting Cyril Bondi (drums) and Vincent Ruiz (acoustic bass) to add to the palet.

Released: May 08, 2015
Label: ECM Records, ECM 2450

Keith Jarrett: piano

Creation features music selected by Keith Jarrett from his improvised solo concerts recorded in 2014 in Japan, Canada, and Europe. Where in the past the solo documentation has shown the improvisational process unfolding over the course of a single evening, this time Jarrett zeroes in on the most revelatory moments from six concerts in Tokyo, Toronto, Paris and Rome. With this departure, Keith Jarrett gives us here the most up-to-the minute account of his spontaneously created music.
ECM, ECM 2450

It's been four years since pianist Keith Jarrett—an ECM recording artist since the early '70s—last released a solo piano recording, 2011's Rio. While its more consistently buoyant, optimistic nature reflected similar changes in Jarrett's life, it was not a recording that, for example, ranked as highly as Concerts: Bregenz / Munich —issued, in 2013, in its entirety for the first time on CD since its original 1982 vinyl release.

The Frozen Vaults - 1816

Released: April 27, 2015
Label: VoxxoV Records

The Frozen Vaults are: Bartosz Dziadosz (Pleq), Harry Towell (Spheruleus), Yuki Murata (piano), David Dhonau (cello), Tomasz Mrenca (violin)

1816 is the debut album from modern classical collective The Frozen Vaults. It is thematically based around the year 1816, which recorded one of the coldest years the world has ever seen. At the time, little was known as to why this phenomenally cold year was upon them, which soon become known in history as 'the year with no summer' and 'eighteen hundred froze to death'...

THE FROZEN VAULTS by James Catchpole
The Frozen Vaults blend a cold and dank ambient sound with a modern classical framing. The strings help to revive the traditional and prevalent sound of the 19th century, and they lend themselves perfectly to the period.

Joep Beving - Solipsism

Released: March 19, 2015
Label: IAREGANTRECORDS, Amsterdam

Joep Beving is a neo-classical, minimalistic pianist and composer.
"The world is a hectic place right now. I felt a deep urge to reconnect on a basic human level with people in general. Music as our universal language has the power to unite. Regardless of our cultural differences I believe we have an inate understanding of what it means to be human. We have our goosebumps to show for it. It’s incredible to see that a completely independent artist like myself can reach people all over the world simply by playing the music that I believe in – music in its purest form. ”Solipsism” refers to the philosophical idea that reality only exists in one’s mind. Everything outside of it, the external world and the minds of others, cannot truly be known and hence does not exist. My music is an experiment in existential communication, a belief in an absolute aesthetic, to prove that a universal and metaphysical reality does exist." - Joep Beving

Ólafur Arnalds & Alice Sara Ott - The Chopin Project

Released: March 16, 2015
Label: Mercury Classics

Released on Monday 16th March on Mercury Classics, the album features Alice performing some of Chopin’s much-loved works, including Piano Sonata No. 3: Largo, Prélude in D Flat Major ‘Raindrop’ and Nocturne in G Minor. All these works have been recorded with a distinctive style, on various types of piano in Reykjavik using vintage recording equipment to create an intimate texture of sound.
Alice stars in The Chopin Project
I have always loved the piano music of Frédéric Chopin, but had grown weary of the uniform and standardized perfection of recordings available and I was longing for someone to come along and try something different. And one day, on a long flight to London, I thought: why don't I do it myself? And thus, in partnership with the acclaimed German-Japanese pianist Alice Sara Ott, THE CHOPIN PROJECT was born.
Watching pianist Alice Sara Ott perform is both mesmerising and astonishing. How can someone who looks so ethereal play with such force and explosive energy? How can someone so young command an orchestra with such confidence and élan?
Her seventh album, The Chopin Project, has just rocketed straight to the top of the UK classical music charts. It is number one in 25 countries and Ott is considered by many to be one of the finest interpreters of Chopin alive yet she is a far cry from the stereotypical image of a classical pianist... The album combines Chopin’s music, played on an old pub piano by Ott, with Arnalds’ own compositions. It works, beautifully. Alice Sara Ott: meet the hottest new talent in classical music. Released: March 6, 2015
Label: Optical Substance Productions

On Steps, Kjetil Huseboe directs his artistic focus in a completely different manner than what was the case on his last album- Skyggespill (Shadow play) - Morphing Between Spaces and Phases. Even though the album Steps is Huseboe ́s third piano album, it constitutes his first entirely acoustic endeavour. Thus, it distingquishes itself from Skyggespill (2014) as it does not include any components of composed, electronic music.

FOGH DEPOT - FOGH DEPOT

Released: February 02, 2015
Label: Denovali Records

Fogh Depot is a trio from Moscow, Russia, who makes music that incorporates elements of nu jazz, hip-hop, doom jazz and live-electronic. Baritone sax, double bass, drums, samplers and a whole lot of stomp boxes and effects.

Fogh Depot’s debut album contains eight stories told by different people in different places. "Anticyclone" feels like a massive hedge-maze amidst towering sand dunes of apathetic lust. "Mining" – is a slow descent into a narrow, murky mine, now and then suddenly illuminated by the guide’s flaring torch. Does he even know where he’s leading his patrons? Sorrowful and strange, "Nevalyashka" is a nostalgic waltz, bringing to mind an old wooden attic where forgotten toys are gathering dust, while the clear and springy bass in "Sagittarius" can only be the belligerent footsteps of a mythical centaur.

Released: January 01, 2015
Label: ACT

Accordionist Vincent Peirani is THE new voice of his instrument. In rapid succession he has won the Prix Django d’Or and the Victoires du Jazz in France and was elected “Artist of the Year” by the French “Jazz Magazine”. In Germany he just won the ECHO Jazz award.
In addition to his sheer inexhaustible versatility and unbounded musicality, the album also reflects most of all the varying influences of his band members: Emile Parisien, again shines as a virtuoso of modern jazz; Julien Herne comes from the R’n’B and hip-hop scene; Yoann Serra is just as at home in the jazz tradition as he is in electronic music; and Tony Paeleman has his roots in the French pop scene. And so it is that the new album adds yet another vibrant facet to an already peerlessly varied artist’s profile.
