Jan Bang, Erik Honoré, David Sylvian, Sidsel Endresen, Arve Henriksen - Uncommon Deities

Released: September 24, 2012
Label: Samadhi Sound

Samadhisound releases Uncommon Deities, a reinvention of David Sylvian's audiovisual installation, produced by Jan Bang and Erik Honoré and featuring performances by David Sylvian, Arve Henriksen and Sidsel Endresen.

The CD release of Uncommon Deities isn’t a document of the installation, but a reinvention: the poems and Sylvian’s readings are placed in new settings by Jan Bang and Erik Honoré. The cofounders of the Punkt festival and close collaborators on the original installation, Bang and Honoré draw on new performances by the deeply sympathetic trumpeter Arve Henriksen and the startling, elemental singer Sidsel Endresen.

Ben Frost and Daníel Bjarnason are two composers used to shrugging off the distinction between experimental sound-art and deeply felt melodies.
The power of Andrei Tarkovsky’s Solaris is not in its futuristic sets, or in the hypnotic shots of the alien planet’s weird, fluid surface, but it’s in the way he juxtaposes his alien, futuristic elements against the intimately familiar...

Eple Trio - In the Clearing, In the Cavern

Released: August 2010

Eple Trio: Jonas Sjøvaag - drums, Andreas Ulvo - piano, Sigurd Hole - bass

Eple trio is a Norwegian contemporary jazz trio playing their own original music.
These two albums, “In the Clearing” and “In the Cavern”, were recorded during an intense week deep in the desolate forests of Sweden. When driving to the studio, the last leg of the journey is on a gravel road through dense vegetation, and although we noisily arrived in cars, we spotted a fox crossing the road, an eagle on territorial watch and some deer grazing lazily in the pine tree shadows.

Deaf Center
Deaf Center - Neon City
Deaf Center - Neon City

Released: March 22, 2004

Kicking off the TY:EP series of releases is Deaf Center, the mysterious project of Norwegian musical masterminds Erik Skodvin and Otto Totland. Old school friends, and both old hands at making solo music, they came together for a holiday in a Norwegian log-cabin and began sampling everything around them. Be it a game of table tennis, an old television broadcast or even friends and relatives having a conversation - nothing was safe. Before long the two had crafted a handful of personal, delicate works and so "Neon City" was born.

Bugge Wesseltoft - Film Ing

Released: March 8, 2004

"Film ing" is the new masterpiece. Bugge back to his studio after last year`s phenomenal live output, recordings and tours and back to the roots and rudiments of his "New conception of jazz". Filmatic, melancholy nordic piano resonances, punishing synth funk, organic grooves, and guest musicianship of the highest calibre: all directed by the ever-watchful and forward-thinking Bugge.

"Film ing" - новый шедевр. Bugge вернулся в свою студию после феноменальных прошлогодних живых выступлений, записей и туров, и вернулся к корням и зачаткам его "Новой концепции джаза". Кинематографические, меланхолические резонансы северного пианино, суровый синти-фанк, органичные грувы и приглашенная музыка высочайшего уровня - все это под руководством бдительного и дальновидного Bugge.
